Scooter ride to Blackingstone Rock on 5 April 2009

I didn't have any plan to go there, it was a nice day and i just got on my scooter without a map and just rode along until i saw this big rock.

The main mission in all this was to clock 1000km on the scooter to finish the running in cycle.

First stop for a cup of tea.

In the distance is Haldon Belevedere where i visited a few weeks ago, this time viewed from the North...

Extreme zoom...

I spend most of my time riding down the little country lanes...

This was near Bridford...

Another tea stop...

I'd only rode a couple hundred yards and this tor suddenly appeared in front of me...

It's called Blackingstone Rock...

You can find out more about it by clicking here...

The funky moped...

The path spirals up around the tor anti clockwise...

It looked climable from this angle - until i got about 3/4 the way up it and thought i'd best come back down and go up the sensible way...

The granite is infested with various lichen...

Back to the path...

Not sure what the rest of it said...

Nearly there...

At the top...

The little funky moped...

Great views...

Haldon Belvedere from the west...

I should have taken a map and compass with me to identify the far away tors...

So i'm guessing this is Haytor...

Trees...

That's Heltor just up left from the white building...

Hingston Rocks (i think???)...

Very steep stairs...

The path down...

A lovely old tree...

And that was Blackingstone Rock...

I then sat down on the grass and had a well deserved cup of tea. Just in front of where i sat was this tiny little flower - no idea what it is...

I set off once again on the bike and came across Heltor...

I'd had enough of climbing for one day so i didn't bother going up, but i'll be back sometime soon to add this tor to my collection...

A pretty little farm hidden away in a valley...

More lanes...

I then headed back home.

On the way i finally clocked up 1000km on my scooter ending the running in cycle that it had to go through, so i stopped for a cuppa and a couple of pics to celebrate...

I can now go full throttle 24/7...

And that was my day out.

:-D
